Smoke Alarms
SMOKE ALARMS SAFE LIVES!
Most Fatal Fires occur at night when people are sleeping. It's often that
victims never wake up, a working smoke alarm will detect smoke and sound the
alarm to alert you giving you the time to safely get out of the house before
things get out of hand.
LAWS
- All homes in Ontario must have a working smoke alarm installed on EVERY storey
and outside all sleeping areas.
- HOMEOWNERS: It is the responsibility of the home owner to Install
and maintain working smoke alarms on every storey of the home.
- LANDLORDS: It is the responsibility of the landlord to install and
maintain smoke alarms on every storey of the home.
- TENANTS: If you are a tenant and do not have the required amount
of smoke alarms, contact your landlord immediately. It is against the law for
the tenant to remove the battery or tamper with the alarm in anyway.
